The Six Days War, 1967

Gamal Nasser expels the UN Peacekeeping forces from the Suez Canal Zone.
Egyptians close the straits to the Israelis and put mass troops on the boarder.
With the help of intelligence the Israelis know about the attack and therefore they attack first with their first-strike policy.
They destroy the Egyptian airforce and take territory in the areas. They took the Sinai Peninsula, the Golan Heights, and West Bank.
The whole war lasts six days.
The United States had to step in to halt attacks because of the fear of the other Arab nations being angered.
"Land for peace"- Negotiate with the land. They will give the land for peace. Israel would remain this size until the early 1980s.
Summary: The Six days War was the next major conflict between Israel and its Arab neighbours following the Suez Canal Crisis. Egypt intitially closed the straits to Israel which caused Israeli to attack its Arab neighbors. The war lasted six days and Israeli greatly increased its territory.
