The Camp David Accords, 1978
Quote: "As we meet here at Camp David we ask people of all faiths to pray with us that peace and justice may result from these deliberations." - Jimmy Carter
Peace Treaty between the Egyptians and Israelis hosted by U.S. president Jimmy Carter. On Egypt's side the leader was Sadat and on Israels side the leader was Begin. These two leaders shared the Nobel Peace Prize in 1978.
The aggrement was to not make war, negotiate the refugee problem, Israel would be able to use the Suez Canal, and Israel would get their oil supply from Egypt.
The outcome for Egypt was that they were expelled from OPEC.
Sadat was actually assasinated based on the agreement that he had made and as for Begin there were people who did not agree with the agreement he had made.
Summary: The Camp David Accords resolved the Yom Kippur War however, the conflict between the Arabs and the Israelis could not completely dissapear. There will most likely always be tension between these two groups. Many of the people in these groups did not agree with an agreement being made between the groups which caused tension towards the governments. Egypt did not fair as well as Israel following this accord.

Question: Could an agreement have been reached between Egypt and Israel had the United States with Jimmy Carter not stepped in?
